Support our theatre!
For over 50 years, Starlighters Theatre has been a place of creativity, education, theatre and friendships. It is our mission to produce excellent live theatre through the ongoing education of actors and directors. This mission is made possible through producing high-quality theatre as well as by hosting educational classes for young thespians and courses to help those wishing to learn more about acting, directing, writing, set designing, programing lights and sound and costuming.
These experiences are offered at a little to no cost to ensure everyone is able to learn. Ticket sales alone do not fully fund these initiatives. We depend on the generosity of businesses and people like you.
Starlighters II Theatre is a 501(C)3 charitable organization, making your gift is fully tax deductible. For more information on other ways you can support our theatre, contact marketing@starlighters.org.

Acting Audition

Auditions

We welcome actors of all experience levels and backgrounds to participate in our productions. Auditions will typically consist of reading from sides and some improvisational activities. Musical auditions will consist of singing pieces from the show, reading sides, and possibly a dance portion. Auditions will take place on stage in front of others auditioning. You do not need to bring a head shot or resume. No main stage show is ever precast, and all casting decisions are at the discretion of the director. Actors do not need to be the same age as the characters listed in order to audition. Please enter the theatre from the back lot door and head to the lobby where an attendant will meet you to give out important information.

The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde is a delightful comedy of manners that gleefully skewers Victorian social conventions and highlights the absurdities of high society. Set in London, the play follows two charming bachelors, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who have invented fictitious personas—“Ernest” and “Bunbury”—to escape societal obligations and indulge in mischievous adventures.

Jack uses the name "Ernest" when visiting the city to court Gwendolen Fairfax, who adores him, partly because of his “sincere” name. Meanwhile, Algernon discovers Jack's secret identity and decides to take on the "Ernest" persona himself to woo Jack’s young ward, Cecily Cardew. This tangled web of mistaken identities, coupled with Wilde’s razor-sharp wit, leads to hilarious consequences as the characters navigate love, identity, and the importance (or lack thereof) of being "earnest."
